Foodie Friday Review of D-Luxe Burger-Disney Springs
On our last trip to Walt Disney World in December of 2016 we arrived later than usual. So we didn’t take our usual Magic Kingdom stroll upon arrival. Instead we headed to Disney Springs cause well… we were starving. This was our first time at Disney Springs since the construction was finished. I have to admit it took a little bit to get my bearings since the bus stop is in the middle instead of where it was before. Thankfully the “My Disney Experience” App lead me right to D-Luxe Burger.
The Line was out the door which was a little off putting from the start. However, looking around and Blaze Pizza and others it wasn’t any better there either. So we decided to wait it out. We met some really nice people in line so it made the time go by faster.
The ordering process is very easy. Ordering at the counter and paying at the same time. You go find a seat and they will deliver it to you when it’s ready. It did seem to take a while to get our food, but that was to be expected with the crowd that night.
I ordered the El Diablo Burger. This spicy burger consisted of a chorizo blend patty, fried banana peppers, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and chipotle mayonnaise. My wife got the BBQ Classic Burger that is topped with fried onion ring, smoked Gouda, bacon, barbecue sauce, onion and lettuce. We also got one order of large fries which is big enough to share.

Both burgers were amazing! they came out hot, fresh, and the internal temperature was spot on how we ordered it. The fries were hand cut, crispy, and you could tell made fresh. We did order two of their milkshakes as well. Since we had a long travel day and planned on rope dropping the Magic Kingdom. We opted against one of their signature adult milkshakes. I have to admit the smoked bourbon shake was very hard to pass up. I ended up with a chocolate shake and my wife had the salted caramel. I loved them both. you could tell they were made with real ice cream, very thick, and creamy.
The only thing I didn’t like about D-Luxe is the seating. I understand they can’t possibly have enough seats for everyone. We quickly learned there were no tables inside that were available. They had some counter style seating along the windows. However, the seats themselves were very uncomfortable to sit on. The seats were like the old tractor seats mounted on a stool. We decided to eat outside on the patio. It was a rather chilly and windy night so all the seats by the outdoor heaters were taken so we ended up a little further back. I am from Ohio so any time I can eat outside in December its a win.
Overall, I loved D-Luxe Burger and would go back and try some of their other burgers and drinks. They also take the Disney Dining Plan so use those credits on a great meal!!

When The Tiki Bird Met The Polite Pig
By: @Scottacampbell
I sent our local bird Scott to go check out the new Polite Pig restaurant at Disney Springs. Here is his review:
Good BBQ is hard to come by, especially in the Orlando area. With the news of the Polite Pig coming, I had high hopes, and was excited to try it. I waited a week for the initial crowd surge to die down. Also, I always like to give a restaurant a week or so to work out any kinks they might encounter. When my family and I went, the Monday after Easter, we found the crowds to be very low. There were maybe 5 parties in line ahead of us.
You queue through once entering the building and before getting to the register. There are viewing stations to see where the meats are being smoked and catch a glimpse of the cast members making their signature BBQ sauces.
They have a pretty limited menu, but it still has all of the BBQ staples you expect. They have chicken, brisket, pork shoulder, ribs, and even smoked salmon. They also have a few sandwich options for those looking for a lighter lunch. Not to be outdone by the BBQ, they have an extensive bourbon and beer list as well.
I ordered the beef brisket, sweet potato tots, slaw, and texas toast. My wife ordered the pork shoulder, mac and cheese, slaw, and texas toast. Our son got the Mac and cheese meal which came with carrots and ranch dressing. Our food took about 15-20 minutes to arrive at the table. The presentation was amazing and we were ready to dig in!
Unfortunately, we had a few issues with the meal. I know brisket is supposed to be a fattier cut of meat. However, it was almost all fat and had a pool of grease under it. There was a lot of salt in the rub. So much so that the smoke flavor was almost overpowered. My wife’s pork shoulder was also very salty and had quite a bit of grease in the bottom of the basket. They had forgotten to put my coleslaw with the meal, which the manager quickly brought to me. So now that the bad is out-of-the-way, here is the good. The sweet potato tots topped with parmesan cheese were incredible. The mac and cheese was really good. We saved the best for last. The orange blossom honey cake was amazing. The cake was very dense and moist. I should’ve ordered a couple more pieces to take home.
BBQ is a very subjective medium of cooking. It’s almost like asking someone how they like their eggs. Ask a hundred people and you will get a hundred different answers. While I am not rushing to go back, I would give them a second chance.
